Summary: The intensity of anthocyanin colouration on the current season's cane for 'DrisRaspSix' is very weak whereas it is strong for both reference varieties. 'DrisRaspSix' has a short bud length on the current season's cane whereas that of 'Heritage' is of medium length. Previous season's canes of 'DrisRaspSix' are shorter than those of 'Maravilla'. Current season's canes of 'DrisRaspSix' are shorter than those of the reference varieties. On the current season's cane, the spines of 'DrisRaspSix' are of sparse to medium density whereas those of 'Maravilla' are very sparse. In cross-section, the profile of the leaflet is concave for 'DrisRaspSix' whereas it is convex for both reference varieties. The terminal leaflet of 'DrisRaspSix' is shorter than that of 'Heritage'. 'DrisRaspSix' has few spines on the pedicel whereas 'Heritage' has medium to many. The peduncle of 'DrisRaspSix' has a very weak intensity of anthocyanin colouration whereas that of 'Heritage' is strong. The fruit of 'DrisRaspSix' has a medium length/width ratio whereas both reference varieties have a very small length/width ratio. Flowering on the current season's cane begins mid-season for 'DrisRaspSix' and late for 'Maravilla'.

Origin & Breeding History: 'DrisRaspSix' arose from a controlled cross conducted in April 2002 between varieties 'Maravilla' (female parent) and 'Francesca' (male parent). Initial seedling of the new variety was asexually propagated at a nursery in Santa Cruz, California. Selection criteria included bright red fruit and high percent of primocane fruit. 'DrisRaspSix' was subsequently asexually propagated and underwent further testing at a nursery in Ventura, California from 2003 to 2011.

Tests & Trials: The comparative trials for 'DrisRaspSix' were conducted in Chilliwack, British Columbia during the 2014 growing season. The plots were planted in the spring of 2013 in a randomized complete block design (RCBD). Each variety consisted of 3 replicates with 5 plants per replicate for a total of 15 plants of each variety. Plants were spaced approximately 61 centimetres apart within rows and 3 metres between rows.
