Summary: The previous season's cane for 'Glen Carron' is brown whereas that of '0447c-5' is brownish purple. A single drupe of 'Glen Carron' is medium to large whereas a single drupe of '0447c-5' is large to very large.

Description:

PLANT: arching growth habit, many current season shoots, bears fruit mainly on previous season's cane in summer, mid to late season vegetative bud burst

VERY YOUNG SHOOT: weak to medium intensity of anthocyanin colouration of apex during rapid growth
CURRENT SEASON'S CANE: medium to strong glaucosity, strong intensity of anthocyanin colouration, medium length internode, medium to long vegetative bud
PREVIOUS SEASON'S CANE: long, brown

Origin & Breeding History: 'Glen Carron' originated from a controlled cross conducted at the James Hutton Institute in Invergowrie, United Kingdom on April 7, 2004. The cross was made between the parent varieties 0030E-12 and 0039F-2. Final selection of 'Glen Carron' was made on November 25, 2010 based on fruit quality characteristics, plant growth habit and pest and disease tolerance. The results from weekly measurements of fruit size, yield, brix and shelf life were also considered.

Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'Glen Carron' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number 2015/0100, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office, in Angers, France. The trial was conducted by the Bundessortenamt, in Prüfstelle Wurzen, Germany, from 2016 to 2017.
