Varieties used for comparison: 'DrisRaspSix' (Alicia) and Maravilla

Summary: The plants of 'DrisRaspFifteen' have a semi upright growth habit whereas both reference varieties have an upright growth habit. 'DrisRaspFifteen' has a medium number of current season's canes whereas both reference varieties have many current season's canes. When fully grown, the current season's cane on 'DrisRaspFifteen' has a very strong bloom whereas 'DrisRaspSix' has a weak to medium degree of bloom and 'Maravilla' has an absent or very weak bloom. The dormant cane on 'DrisRaspFifteen' is shorter than the dormant cane of both reference varieties. The current season cane on 'DrisRaspFifteen' is shorter than the current season's cane of both reference varieties. In autumn, fruit ripening on the current season's cane of 'DrisRaspFifteen' begins mid to late season whereas for 'DrisRaspSix' it begins very late.

Origin & Breeding History: 'DrisRaspFifteen' originated from a controlled cross between proprietary parent 'RD335.8' and proprietary parent 'Z367.1' conducted at Santa Cruz County, California, USA in April 2011. The new variety 'DrisRaspFifteen' was selected in February 2013 in Ventura County, California based on primocane and floricane yield, fruit size, fruit flavor and shelf life. Asexual reproduction by root cuttings was initiated in Santa Cruz County, California USA in May 2013.

Tests & Trials: The comparative trial for 'DrisRaspFifteen' was conducted in Chilliwack, British Columbia during the 2023 growing season. Plants were transplanted in April 2021 into raised beds, covered with plastic mulch and irrigated with drip lines. The plots were arranged in a RCB design with four replicates. Each replicate consisted of 3 plants for a total of 12 plants of each variety. Plants were spaced approximately 90 centimetres apart within rows and 3 metres between rows. A total of 10 measurements were taken from each variety. Mean differences were significant at the 5% confidence probability level based on a paired Student`s t-test.
