Description:
PLANT: upright growth habit, medium number of current season's canes, bears fruit on previous season's cane in summer and on current season's cane in autumn, early to mid-season vegetative bud burst
VERY YOUNG SHOOT: very weak to weak intensity of anthocyanin colouration of apex during rapid growth, early to mid-season emergence
FRUITING LATERAL: semi-erect attitude, short to medium length
CURRENT SEASON`S CANE: medium length, weak bloom, strong intensity of anthocyanin colouration, short to medium internode length, medium length vegetative bud
DORMANT CANE: medium length, brownish purple
SPINES: medium to dense, small to medium size base, short to medium, purple
LEAF: medium green upper side, equally three and five leaflets, medium rugosity, relative position of lateral leaflets is free
LEAFLET: straight in cross-section
TERMINAL LEAFLET: medium to long, broad

Origin & Breeding History: 'MAR 503' originated from a cross between the female parent variety '11-24-2' and the male parent variety '08-25-3' conducted in Soings-en-Sologne, France in 2013. The new variety 'MAR 503' was selected from the resulting progeny in 2014 based on the glossiness and firmness of the fruit.
Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'MAR 503' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number 2019/2301, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office in Angers, France. The trial was conducted at the Bundessortenamt in Wurzen, Germany from 2021 to 2022.
