Summary: The growth habit for ‘NOA83100B' is trailing while it is upright to bushy for‘Meikrotal' and ‘Radrazz'. The entire leaf of ‘NOA83100B' is smaller and glossier than ‘Meikrotal' and ‘Radrazz'. ‘NOA83100B' has weaker sepal extensions than ‘Radrazz'. The colour of the flower of ‘NOA83100B' is red while it is dark pink-red for ‘Radrazz' and purple-red for Noatraum'. ‘NOA83100B' has a smaller flower petal spot than the reference varieties. The flower petal of ‘NOA83100B' is larger than ‘Meikrotal' and ‘Noatraum'. ‘NOA83100B' has a pink coloured filament of the outer stamen while it is yellow for ‘Meikrotal' and ‘Noatraum' and white for ‘Radrazz'.

Description:

‘NOA83100B' is a ground cover rose variety which has a trailing growth habit. The stem has a sparse number of short and long prickles which are concave in shape and red-brown in colour. The leaves are dark green in colour and have very strong glossiness on the upper side. There are seven leaflets. The terminal leaflet has a dentate margin and a leathery texture. The leaflet base is obtuse.

‘NOA83100B' flowers almost continuously for more than ten weeks. There are a medium number of flowers per flowering shoot and the flower pedicel has many hairs or prickles. The flower bud is pointed and sepal extensions are absent to very weak. The flower is round when viewed from above, flat on the upper part when viewed from the side and flat on the lower part when viewed from the side. The flower corolla is semi-double. ‘NOA83100B' has red coloured flowers. The petals have a very small sized white spot at the base of the inner and outer side. The petal margin has weak reflexing and undulation. The outer stamen has a pink filament. The style is long, yellow and has few hairs on the upper half. The stigma is positioned at the same level as the anthers. The receptacle is small, pear shaped and has no prickles. The flower has a very weak fragrance. ‘NOA83100B' is resistant to mildew, black spot and rust.

Origin & Breeding History: ‘NOA83100B' originated from a cross made in 2000 in Gutersloh, Germany between an unnamed female parent and ‘Rotfassade' as the male parent. The selection criteria for ‘NOA83100B' were disease resistance, dark foliage, continuous flowering, flower colour, and good propagation ability.

Tests & Trials: Tests and trials for ‘NOA83100B' were conducted in 2005 at Pan American Nursery Products Inc., Surrey, British Columbia. Five plants of each variety were grown in containers outdoors.
