Varieties used for comparison: 'Horcoherent' (Oso Easy Peachy Cream) and 'Scrivjean' (Oso Easy Honey Bun)
Summary: The plants of 'Chewnicebell' are taller with larger leaves than the plants of 'Horcoherent' and 'Scrivjean'. When newly open, the leaf blade margin of 'Chewnicebell' has strong intensity of anthocyanin colouration while it is of weak to medium inensity for 'Horcoherent' and medium intensity for 'Scrivjean'. The colour group of the flower of 'Chewnicebell' is yellow-pink blend, whereas it is orange-yellow blend for 'Horcoherent' and yellow-(light) pink blend for 'Scrivjean'. The flower of 'Chewnicebell' is larger in diameter than the flower of 'Horcoherent' and 'Scrivjean'. The flower of 'Chewnicebell' has a greater number of petals than that of 'Scrivjean'. The flower diameter of 'Chewnicebell' is larger than that of 'Horcoherent' and 'Scrivjean'. The colour of the inner side of the petal of 'Chewnicebell' is light red pink whereas the petal of 'Horcoherent' is orange pink blended with light red pink tones and the petal of 'Scrivjean' is lighter red pink with light blue pink tones.

SEPAL: weak extensions
FLOWER BUD: medium ovate in longitudinal section, yellow (RHS 6A) with orange red (RHS 40D) and red to dark pink red (RHS 50A-B) along midrib and margin of petal
FLOWER: double type, irregularly rounded when viewed from above, convex upper part and concave to flat lower part when viewed from the side, yellow and pink blend colour group, yellowish white centre, weak fragrance, loose to medium density of petals, petals reflexing one by one
PETAL: obovate, absent or very weak incisions, weak reflexing of margin, very weak undulation, two colours on inner side, main colour of inner side is light red pink (brighter than RHS 38A), secondary colour is light yellow (RHS 4D) at base, basal spot on inner side is small and medium yellow

Origin & Breeding History: 'Chewnicebell' was bred and developed by Christopher Hugh Warner in Newport, Shropshire, United Kingdom. It originated from a controlled cross conducted in June 1998 between the variety 'Pandemonium' as the female parent and 'Scrivbell' as the male parent. 'Chewnicebell' was selected in 2004 based on its plant growth habit, disease resistance, glossy foliage, free flowering habit, abundant and attractive flowers, attractiveness of flowers, and flower colour. Asexual reproduction of 'Chewnicebell' was first conducted by softwood cuttings in 2004 in Newport, Shropshire, United Kingdom.
Tests & Trials: The comparative trial for 'Chewnicebell' was conducted outdoors during the summer of 2014 at BioFlora Inc. in St. Thomas, Ontario. The trial included a total of 10 plants each of the candidate and reference varieties. All plants were grown from liners transplanted into 9 litre pots on July, 2013. Observations and measurements were taken from 10 plants or parts of plants of each variety on July 21, 2014. All colour determinations were made using the 2007 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
