Origin & Breeding History: 'AAC 576' originated from a cross conducted by Larry Dyck, an employee of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, at the Morden Research Station in Morden, Manitoba. The cross was made in 2001 between female parent variety 'Y8' and male parent variety 'Frontenac'. In the spring of 2002, one seedling was selected and planted in the rose seedling field at the Morden Research Centre, further evaluated in 2003 and designated as '21Y8FR04'. This variety was selected based on its cold hardiness and black spot disease resistance. Initial cuttings were taken in 2004 and maintained in a greenhouse. Three of these were planted in the Morden Rose North Test Bed in 2006.

Tests & Trials: The comparative trial for 'AAC 576' was conducted as an outdoor trial during the summer of 2017 at Vineland Research and Innovation Centre in Vineland, Ontario. The trial included 6 plants each of the candidate and reference variety. Plants were grown from bare-rooted cuttings and transplanted into 11.4 litre containers in April 2015. Observations and measurements were taken from 6 plants, or 10 parts of 6 plants, of each variety on July 6, 2017. All colour determinations were made using the 2007 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
