Variety used for comparison: 'Noa38121'

Summary: The young shoot of 'Noa1811108' has a strong intensity of anthocyanin colouration whereas it is of very weak intensity for 'Noa38121'. The prickles on the stem of 'Noa1811108' are predominantly purplish whereas those of 'Noa38121' are predominantly greenish. The upper side of the leaf on 'Noa1811108' has medium glossiness whereas the leaf of 'Noa38121' has strong glossiness. In longitudinal section, the shape of the flower bud is elliptic for 'Noa1811108' whereas it is broad ovate for 'Noa38121'. The flower of 'Noa1811108' has a medium number of petals with medium reflexing of the petal margin whereas that of 'Noa38121' has many petals with strong reflexing of the petal margin. The seed vessel is small to medium sized for 'Noa1811108' whereas it is very small for 'Noa38121'.

Origin & Breeding History: 'Noa1811108' originated from a cross conducted in Gütersloh, Germany in April 2009 between the variety 'Charisma' and an unnamed proprietary seedling. The variety 'Noa1811108' was selected in 2010 based on growth habit, flowering characteristics and fragrance. Asexual reproduction was first conducted by terminal semi-softwood cuttings (not grafted onto rootstock?) in the summer 2010 in Gütersloh, Germany.

Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'Noa1811108' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number 2020/068, purchased from the Plant Breeders' Rights Office, Intellectual Property Australia. The trial was conducted in Clyde, Victoria, Australia from November 2020 to May 2021. All colour determinations were made using the 1995 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
