Variety used for comparison: 'Meisentmil' (Lemon Drift)

Summary: The leaf of 'Meidevi' is wider than that of 'Meisentmil'. The terminal leaflet of 'Meidevi' is bigger than that of 'Meisentmil'. The flower bud of 'Meidevi' is light yellow while it is dark yellow for that of 'Meisentmil'. 'Meidevi' has a double flower type while 'Meisentmil' has a semi-double flower type. The flower of 'Meidevi' has a greater number of petals and a larger diameter than that of 'Meisentmil'. The flower of 'Meidevi' has a round shape with a concave upper part profile while that of 'Meisentmil' has an irregularly rounded shape with a flat upper part profile. The petal of 'Meidevi' has a rounded shape and is larger than that of 'Meisentmil', which has an obovate shape. The inner and outer side of the petal of 'Meidevi' is white while it is light yellow for that of 'Meisentmil'.

STEM: no anthocyanin colouration on young shoot, absent or very few reddish prickles

LEAF: upper side medium green, anthocyanin colouration present on the margin only, strong degree of glossiness of upper side, absent or very weak undulation of margin
TERMINAL LEAFLET: medium elliptic shape, obtuse to rounded base, acuminate apex

FLOWERING SHOOT: few flowering laterals, few flowers per lateral
FLOWER BUD: medium ovate in longitudinal section, light yellow (closest to RHS 15D)
FLOWER: double type, yellow colour group, dense petals, round shape, concave profile of upper part, flat profile of lower part, medium fragrance, weak sepal extensions
PETAL: no reflexing of petals one-by-one, rounded shape, absent or very weak incisions, medium to strong reflexing of margin, medium undulation
PETAL (INNER SIDE): one colour even (basal spot excluded), white (RHS 155D), lightening to brighter white (RHS NN155D) with age
PETAL (OUTER SIDE): white (RHS 155D)
BASAL PETAL SPOT (INNER SIDE): very small to small, medium yellow
OUTER STAMEN: predominantly light yellow filament

Origin & Breeding History: 'Meidevi' originated from a controlled cross conducted in May 2011 in Le Cannet des Maures, France between an unnamed seedling resulting from the cross between 'Macivy' x 'Meigekanu' as the female parent, and an unnamed seedling resulting from the cross between 'The Fairy' x an unnamed seedling as the male parent. 'Meidevi' was selected in May 2013 in Le Cannet des Maures, France based on vigorous growth, plant growth habit, leaf colour and glossiness, flowering abundance, flower type and colour, and disease resistances. The variety was first asexually propagated by cuttings in June 2013 in Le Cannet des Maures, France.

Tests & Trials: The comparative trial for 'Meidevi' was conducted in an outdoor trial during the summer of 2023 in St. Thomas, Ontario. The trial included 9 plants of the candidate variety and 10 plants of the reference variety. All plants were grown from bare-rooted plants and transplanted into 11.4 liter containers in April 2022. Observations and measurements were taken from 10 plants, or 10 parts of plants on July 7, 2023. Mean differences were significant at the 5% confidence probability level based on a paired Student's t-test. All colour determinations were made using the 2015 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
