Origin & Breeding History: 'American Gold Rush' originated from an open pollinated cross between Rudbeckia fulgida var. deamiia, as the female parent and an unknown male parent that occurred in August 2010, in Hebron, Illinois, USA. 'American Gold Rush' was selected from the resulting seedlings in 2011, as a single unique plant, based on foliage colour, flowering profusion, flower size and colour.
Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'American Gold Rush' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, reference number HER 1450, purchased from The Community Plant Variety Office (CPVO), Angers, France. The trial was conducted by the National Institute of Agricultural Botany (NIAB), Cambridge, United Kingdom in 2017. All colour determinations were made using the 2007 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
