Varieties used for comparison: 'Sallyfun Deep Ocean' and 'Sallyfun Pure White'
Summary: The plants of ‘DPWSAFUWHT' are shorter than those of ‘Sallyfun Deep Ocean' and ‘Sallyfun Pure White'. The internode of the inflorescence of ‘DPWSAFUWHT' is longer than that of ‘Sallyfun Pure White'. The lower lip of the corolla of ‘DPWSAFUWHT' is narrower than that of ‘Sallyfun Pure White'. The lower lip of the corolla of ‘DPWSAFUWHT' is mainly white with no secondary colour while that of ‘Sallyfun Deep Ocean' is mainly dark blue violet with a white secondary colour.
Description:

STEM: absent or very weak intensity of anthocyanin colouration, dense pubescence
LEAF BLADE: medium to large length to width ratio, broadest part positioned strongly towards base, acute to obtuse apex, wedged base, shallow margin incisions, medium to strong undulation of margin
LEAF BLADE (UPPER SIDE): dark green, no variegation, absent or very sparse pubescence, absent or very weak rugosity, medium to strong glossiness
INFLORESCENCE: few florets per node, medium number of lateral branches, upright to semi-upright attitude of tip
BRACT: very strong degree of persistence
CALYX (OUTER SIDE): light grey green (RHS 192C-D), dense pubescence
COROLLA TUBE (OUTER SIDE): white (RHS NN155D)
COROLLA (UPPER LIP): white (RHS NN155C), dense pubescence
COROLLA (LOWER LIP): white (RHS NN155D), weak recurving of margin
Origin & Breeding History: 'DPWSAFUWHT' originated from an open pollinated cross in 2018 in Moshav Mishmar Hashiva, Israel. The cross was made between the female parent designated ‘SAF-9-971' and pollen from an unknown male parent. The new variety 'DPWSAFUWHT' was selected in June of 2019 based on its flower colour, flower distribution, and stem length. Asexual reproduction of 'DPWSAFUWHT' was first conducted by cuttings in 2019 in Moshav Mishmar Hashiva, Israel.
Tests & Trials: Trials for 'DPWSAFUWHT' were conducted in a polyhouse during the summer of 2025 at BioFlora Inc. in St. Thomas, Ontario. The trial included a total of 20 plants of the candidate and reference varieties. Rooted cuttings were transplanted into 15 cm pots on April 18, 2025. Observations and measurements were taken from 10 plants of each variety on June 2, 2025. All colour determinations were made using the 2015 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart. Mean differences were significant at the 5% confidence probability level based on a paired Student's t-test.
