Summary: The plants of 'Yellow Brick Road' are shorter and wider than those of 'Little Miss Sunshine'. The stem of 'Yellow Brick Road' is medium green to red brown with a medium to strong intensity of anthocyanin colouration while that of 'Little Miss Sunshine' is medium green with no anthocyanin colouration. The leaf blade of 'Yellow Brick Road' is smaller than that of 'Little Miss Sunshine'. The upper side of the leaf blade of 'Yellow Brick Road' has a weak intensity of anthocyanin colouration on the margin while that of 'Little Miss Sunshine' has no anthocyanin colouration. The leaf blade shape of 'Yellow Brick Road' is oblanceolate while that of 'Little Miss Sunshine' is obovate. The plants of 'Yellow Brick Road' flower mid to late in the season while those of 'Little Miss Sunshine' flower early to mid-season. The inflorescence of 'Yellow Brick Road' is larger than that of 'Little Miss Sunshine'. The inner side of the petal of 'Yellow Brick Road' is medium yellow whereas that of 'Little Miss Sunshine' is medium yellow green.

INFLORESCENCE: cyme type, terminal position only, erect attitude
FLOWER: petal arrangement is very open, very few petals, five petals
PETAL: small, lanceolate shape, acute apex, absent or very weak recurvature of tip, entire margin, absent or very sparse pubescence on lower side, inner side is medium yellow (RHS 2A), outer side is medium yellow (RHS 2B)

Origin & Breeding History: 'Yellow Brick Road' originated from a self pollination of the proprietary hybrid '12-67-1' at a nursery in Zeeland, Michigan, USA in the summer of 2013. Seeds were collected in the fall of 2013. The new plant was evaluated and trialed in the fall of 2015. 'Yellow Brick Road' was selected in September of 2015 for its plant growth habit, distinct foliage type and flower colour at a nursery in Zeeland, Michigan, USA. 'Yellow Brick Road' was initially propagated by shoot tip cuttings in the fall of 2016 at Walters Gardens, Inc. in Zeeland, Michigan, USA.

Tests & Trials: The comparative trial for 'Yellow Brick Road' was conducted outdoors during the summer of 2022 at Variety Rights Management in Oxford Station, Ontario. The trial included a total of 15 plants each of the candidate and reference variety. All plants were grown in 22 cm pots spaced 45 cm apart. Observations and measurements were taken from 10 plants, or parts of plants, of each variety during the last week of July 2022. All colour determinations were made using the 2015 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
