Summary: The main colour of the upper side of the leaf of 'Everlime' is dark green to green grey whereas the leaf of 'Everest' is dark green. The colour of the margin of the upper side of the leaf is dark green for 'Everlime' whereas the margin of the leaf is white for 'Everest'.

Description:

STEM/CULM: short, thickened rhizomes located underground

LEAF: grass-like, linear shape, keeled, base is sheathing stem
LEAF (UPPER SIDE): two coloured, main colour is dark green (RHS 139A) to green grey (RHS N189A), secondary colour is dark green (RHS 144A) distributed along margin
LEAF (LOWER SIDE): main colour is dark green (RHS 137A), secondary colour is dark green (RHS 144A) distributed along margin

FLOWER: none produced during period of observation

Origin & Breeding History: 'Everlime' was discovered and developed by the breeder, Pat Fitzgerald, of Stoneyford, County Kilkenny, Ireland. It originated as a naturally occurring chimera mutation of the Carex oshimensis variety 'Evergold'. The breeder discovered 'Everlime' in 2009 in a container at his nursery in Oldtown, Stoneyford. 'Everlime' was selected for its dwarf plant growth habit, robust growth, and variegated foliage. 'Everlime' was first propagated asexually by rhizome divisions in 2009, in Stoneyford, County Kilkenny, Ireland.

Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'Everlime' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number 2013/2494, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office in Angers, France. The trial was conducted by the Department of Food Science at the University of Aarhus in Aarslev, Denmark, in 2014. The colour determinations were made using the 2001 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
