Variety Description
Variety used for comparison: 'Ancot' (Golden Spirit)
Summary: The sterile shoot of 'MINCOJAU3' is light purple red whereas the sterile shoot of 'Ancot' is medium purple red. The leaf blade shape of 'MINCOJAU3' is obovate whereas the leaf blade is elliptic for 'Ancot'. The flowering part of the inflorescence of 'MINCOJAU3' is of medium length while that of 'Ancot' is short.

PLANT: short to medium height
STERILE SHOOT: medium length, narrow, light purple red, light purple red hairs
PETIOLE: medium length, light green with a weak purple flush when young, very light green when mature
LEAF BLADE: medium to long, medium width, obovate shape, rounded apex, weak undulation of margin
LEAF BLADE (UPPER SIDE): light green (RHS N144C to 144C), more yellow when aged, weak intensity of waxy layer, medium degree of blistering
LEAF BLADE (LOWER SIDE): light green (RHS N144C to 144C)
INFLORESCENCE: medium length and width of flowering part
PEDICEL: light green
FLOWER: small diameter
COROLLA: light yellow with purple red base
Origin & Breeding History: 'MINCOJAU3' was bred and developed by the breeder, Patrick Pineau, an employee of Hortival Diffusion SAS, in Beaufort-en-Anjou, France. It originated from a controlled cross conducted in 2005 between the female parent variety 'Ancot' (Golden Spirit) and male parent variety 'Royal Purple'. In 2009, 'MINCOJAU3' was selected for its plant growth habit and vigour, spring and summer foliage colour and outdoor performance. 'MINCOJAU3' was first propagated asexually from softwood cuttings in 2009 in La Ménitré, Maine and Loire, France.
Tests & Trials: The detailed description of MINCOJAU3' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number 2015/1714 purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office in Angers, France with the trials being conducted at the Naktuinbouw in Roelofarendsveen, Netherlands from 2016 to 2017. Colour determinations were made using the 2015 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
