Origin & Breeding History: P14A12E' originated from a cross between two proprietary lines made in 2018, in Johnston, Iowa. From 2018 to 2020, six generations were advanced between Johnston, Iowa and Salinas, Puerto Rico. The F1 line was harvested in bulk, followed by single seed descent selection and multiple single plant selections. Line purification rows were selected and harvested in bulk in 2020. Selection criteria included yield, maturity, seed quality traits, herbicide tolerance and pest resistance. P14A12E' was selected at the F6 generation. Breeder seed production commenced in 2021.
Tests & Trials: The comparative trials for P14A12E' were conducted in Embro, Ontario during the 2023 and 2024
growing seasons. Trials were planted in a RCB design and consisted of 3 replicates for each variety. Plots consisted of 4
rows, 5 metres in length and a row spacing of 76 cm. The trial consisted of 1740 plants per variety. Mean differences were significant at the 5% probability level based on a Student's t-test.
