Summary: When the cotyledons are completely open, the hypocotyl of P08A44E' has a strong intensity of anthocyanin colouration whereas the hypocotyl of P09A53X' has a weak intensity of anthocyanin colouration. When 95% of the pods are ripe, the pod of P08A44E' is medium brown whereas that of P09A53X' is light brown.

Origin & Breeding History: P08A44E' originated from a cross between two proprietary inbreds, conducted in 2020 at Johnston, Iowa. Between 2018 and 2021, seven generations were advanced across two locations: Johnston, Iowa; and Salinas, Puerto Rico. Selection criteria included yield, maturity, resistance to diseases and pests, and seed protein and oil content. P08A44E' was selected at the F6 generation, and breeder seed production began in 2022.
Tests & Trials: The comparative trials for P08A44E' were conducted in Thamesford, Ontario, during the 2023 and 2024 growing seasons. Trials were planted in a RCB design and consisted of 3 replicates for each variety. Plots consisted of 4 rows, 5 metres in length and a row spacing of 76 cm. The trial consisted of 1740 plants per variety.
