Origin & Breeding History: 'COURISPI01' originated from the branch mutation of an unnamed plant of Spiraea betulifolia, discovered in 2004 in Moyenmoutier, France. The selection, based on flower colour, was propagated and the seedlings allowed to open-pollinate. The resultant seed was sown with 3 cycles of seed selection conducted from 2005 to 2007. 'COURISPI01' was selected based on flower colour, flower size and reblooming flowering habit. It was first propogated by softwood stem cuttings in 2012, in Moyenmoutier, France.

Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'COURISPI01' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number 2015/1765, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office in Angers, France. The trials were conducted by the National Institute of Agricultural Botany in Cambridge, United Kingdom in 2017. The colour determinations were made using the 2007 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
