Summary: The plants of V16L410' have a semi-upright growth habit while those of Beauregard' have a spreading growth habit. The leaves of V16L410' have seven lobes while those of Beauregard' have three lobes.

STEM INTERNODE: small to medium diameter, absent or weak intensity of anthocyanin colouration
PETIOLE: absent or very weak intensity of anthocyanin colouration, medium length
YOUNG LEAF BLADE (UPPER SIDE): purplish brown
LEAF BLADE: seven lobes, very shallow depth of lobing
LEAF BLADE (UPPER SIDE): green excluding anthocyanin colouration, absent or weak intensity of anthocyanin colouration, small to medium extent and weak to medium intensity of anthocyanin colouration on abaxial veins
STORAGE ROOT: ovate shape, medium length to width ratio, medium thickness of cortex relative to overall diameter, shallow eyes
STORAGE ROOT SKIN: mainly orange with pink secondary colour
STORAGE ROOT FLESH: orange or mainly medium orange with orange secondary colour
Origin & Breeding History: 'V16L410' originated from a cross conducted by Valerio Primomo in 2016, in Vineland, Ontario, Canada, in an open-pollinated polycross nursery containing 10 lines. The cross from which 'V16L410' originated was between a proprietary female parent, and an unknown male parent. From the resulting progeny, approximately 2660 seedlings were planted in a greenhouse in 2017 at the Vineland Research and Innovation Centre facilities in Vineland, Ontario. In 2016, 'V16L410' was selected for its flesh colour, skin colour, storage root shape and yield.
Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'V16L410' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, registration number 65008, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office, Angers, France. The trial was conducted by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine in Donegol, Ireland, in 2022.
