Description:
PLANT: broad conical shape, no drooping shoots, short to medium height, main shoots present
MAIN SHOOT: many shoots of upper whorl in autumn/winter, small angle between first 5 cm of shoot and main shoot
CURRENT YEAR'S SHOOT: short, red brown on sunny side after lignification, dense needles, imperfectly radial arrangement of needles in autumn/winter
TERMINAL BUD BURST: begins mid-season
BUD: ovate shape, short, broad acute tip, yellow brown
NEEDLE: light green upper side in autumn, medium length of lateral needle from middle third of current year's shoot, absent or very weak curvature
Origin & Breeding History: 'HB07' was discovered and developed by the breeder, Mr. Herman Huijbers, owner of Boomkwekerij Huijbers B.V. in Someren, Netherlands. It was discovered by the breeder in 2008, in a production nursery of Picea glauca variety 'Conica' in Someren, Netherlands. 'HB07' was selected in 2008 for its bushy plant growth habit and abundant lateral shoot production.
Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'HB07' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number 2012/2776, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office in Angers, France. The trial was conducted by the Centralny Osrodek Badania Odmian Roslin Uprwanych's Stacja Doswiadczalna Oceny Odmian (Experimental Station for the Evaluation of Varieties) in Zybiszowie, Poland, from 2013 to 2014.
