There were 185 seedlings selected from the resultant progeny for criteria based on plant growth, flower colour and foliage health. The seedlings were assessed in greenhouse trials for plant growth, flowering time and flower colour as well as outdoor trials for flower abundance and tolerance to weather conditions. One of the seedlings was seelected for commercialization and named 'KLEBB08398'.

Tests & Trials: Trials for 'KLEBB08398' were conducted in a polyhouse during the spring of 2010 in St. Thomas, Ontario. Trials included 15 plants each of the candidate and reference varieties. Rooted cuttings were transplanted into 12 cm pots on June 3, 2010. Observations and measurements were taken from 10 plants of each variety on June 15, 2010. All colour determinations were made using the 2007 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
