Varieties used for comparison: 'Pircinque' and 'Florida Festival'

Summary: The plants of 'DrisStrawFortyFive' have a semi-upright growth habit whereas those of 'Florida Festival' are upright. The foliage of 'DrisStrawFortyFive' is sparse whereas it is dense for 'Pircinque'. The plants of 'DrisStrawFortyFive' have medium vigour whereas those of 'Pircinque' have strong vigour. The inflorescence of 'DrisStrawFortyFive' are positioned at the same level as the foliage whereas the inflorescence of 'Pircinque' are positioned beneath the foliage and the inflorescence of 'Florida Festival' are positioned above the foliage. The plants of 'DrisStrawFortyFive' have absent or very few stolons whereas 'Pircinque' and 'Florida Festival' have a medium number of stolons. The leaves of 'DrisStrawFortyFive' are medium sized whereas those of 'Pircinque' are large. The terminal leaflet of 'DrisStrawFortyFive' is much longer than wide whereas the terminal leaflet of 'Pircinque' is equal in length to width and the terminal leaflet of 'Florida Festival' is moderately longer than the width. The plants of 'DrisStrawFortyFive' have many flowers whereas the plants of 'Pircinque' have few flowers. The fruit of 'DrisStrawFortyFive' is much longer than the width whereas the fruit of 'Florida Festival' is moderately longer than the width. The fruit of 'DrisStrawFortyFive' is conical and wedged whereas the fruit of 'Florida Festival' is only conical. The achenes of 'DrisStrawFortyFive' are above the surface of the fruit whereas the achenes of 'Florida Festival' are level with the surface of the fruit. The plants of 'DrisStrawFortyFive' flower and the fruit ripens late season whereas those of 'Pircinque flower and ripen very early and those of 'Florida Festival' flower mid-season.

Description:

PLANT: not remontant bearing type, semi-upright growth habit, sparse foliage, medium vigour

STOLONS: absent or very few, strong intensity of anthocyanin colouration, medium density pubescence

PETIOLE: medium length, upward attitude of hairs
STIPULE: weak intensity of anthocyanin colouration
LEAF: three to four leaflets, medium sized, medium green on upper side, absent or weak degree of blistering, medium glossiness, no variegation
TERMINAL LEAFLET: much longer than wide, obtuse base, crenate margin, concave in cross-section

TIME OF BEGINNING OF FLOWERING: late season
BRACT LEAFLET: present, medium size
INFLORESCENCE: positioned at same level as foliage, many flowers
PEDICEL: horizontal attitude of hairs
FLOWER: calyx same size as corolla, large, stamens present
PETALS: overlapping arrangement, length is equal to width, white on inner side

CALYX: attachment is level with surface of fruit, outwards attitude of sepals, slightly smaller diameter than the fruit, strong adherence to fruit
FRUIT: much longer than wide, medium size, conical and wedged, none or very slight difference in shape between terminal fruit and other fruit, absent or very narrow band without achenes
FRUIT SURFACE: orange red, even or very slightly uneven colour distribution, strong glossiness, even or very slightly uneven
ACHENES: positioned above fruit surface
FRUIT FLESH: firm, light red with light red core, absent or small cavity

Origin & Breeding History: 'DrisStrawFortyFive' originated from a cross conducted in March 2009 in Kent, United Kingdom. The cross was made between the proprietary female parent 'DrisStrawThirtyTwo' and the proprietary male parent 'KGEM 0629-001'. A single plant was selected for asexual propagation by tissue culture and vegetative cuttings in June 2010 based on maturity time, disease resistance, fruit colour and fruit flavour. Further propagation and testing was conducted at a nursery in Kent, United Kingdom from 2010 to 2014.

Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'DrisStrawFourtyFive' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, reference number 20151220, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office, Angers, France. The trials were conducted at the Escaroupim Studies Center - Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development, in Portugal from 2016 to 2017.
