Summary: The plant foliage of 'DrisStrawFiftyThree' is of medium density while that of 'DrisStrawFortyOne' is dense. The upper side of the leaf of 'DrisStrawFiftyThree' is dark green with medium blistering while that of 'DrisStrawFortyOne' is darker green with absent or weak blistering. The plants of 'DrisStrawFiftyThree' begin flowering and fruit ripening early in the season while the plants of 'DrisStrawFortyOne' begin flowering and fruit ripening mid-season.

Origin & Breeding History: 'DrisStrawFiftyThree' originated from a controlled cross conducted in April 2010 between two proprietary varieties, 'DrisStrawFortyOne' as the patented female parent and '96Q116' as the male parent, in Shasta County, California, USA. In May 2011, a single plant was selected for its yield, fruit firmness and mildew tolerance in Monterey County, California. 'DrisStrawFiftyThree' was further propagated via stolons and underwent further testing from 2011 to 2016 in Monterey County, California.
Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'DrisStrawFiftyThree' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number 2017/288, purchased from the Plant Breeder's Rights Office of IP Australia in Palmwoods, QLD, Australia. The trials were conducted in Palmwoods, QLD, Australia from March to September 2018. Colour determinations were made using the 2015 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
