In the summer of 2006, 'Opera' was found and selected from the resulting progeny based on its fruit quality, shape, appearance, production, easy picking and earliness in Elst, Gelderland, Netherlands. 'Opera' was first propagated by vegetative propagation, runners plants, in autumn of 2006 in Elst, Gelderland, Netherlands.

Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'Opera' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number 2014/0200, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office in Angers, France. The trials were conducted by the Bundessortenamt at Prüfstelle Wurzen in Hannover, Germany from 2015 to 2017.
