Variety used for comparison: 'Floriante'
Summary: The plants of 'Malling Ace' have medium density foliage while those of 'Floriante' have dense foliage. The anthocyanin colouration of the stolon of 'Malling Ace' is of medium intensity while that of 'Floriante' is weak. The pubescence on the stolon of 'Malling Ace' is of medium density while that of 'Floriante' is dense. The leaf of 'Malling Ace' is medium to large with medium blistering and strong glossiness while the leaf of 'Floriante' is large to very large with strong blistering and a medium degree of glossiness. The attitude of the hairs on the petiole of 'Malling Ace' is slightly outwards while that of 'Floriante' is horizontal. The anthocyanin colouration of the stipule of 'Malling Ace' is strong while that of 'Floriante' is of medium intensity. The petal of 'Malling Ace' is moderately shorter than it is wide while the petal of 'Floriante' is moderately longer than it is wide. The attitude of the sepals of the fruit of 'Malling Ace' is outwards while it is upwards for that of 'Floriante'. The calyx of 'Malling Ace' has the same diameter as the fruit while the calyx of 'Floriante' has a much larger diameter than the fruit. The flesh of the fruit of 'Malling Ace' is medium red while that of 'Floriante' is orange red. The cavity of the fruit of 'Malling Ace' is absent or small while that of 'Floriante' is large.

PETAL: moderately shorter than wide, white inner side

Origin & Breeding History: 'Malling Ace' originated from a controlled cross conducted in 2014 between two proprietary varieties at East Malling Research in Kent, United Kingdom. In July of 2015, 'Malling Ace' was selected at the same location based on its fruit shape, size, and yield.
Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'Malling Ace' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number 20202580, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office in Angers, France. The trials were conducted by the Research Centre for Cultivar Testing in SÅ‚upia Wielka, Poland from 2021/2022 to 2022/2023.
