Origin & Breeding History: 'Fandango' originated from a cross pollination between a seedling designated S2009-639 as the female parent and the variety 'Calinda' as the male parent. The cross was conducted at Eck en Wiel, the Netherlands during the summer of 2010. The new variety 'Fandango' was selected in 2012 at the breeders premise in Spain, based on plant growth habit, time of fruit ripening and uniformity of ripening. Multiple generations of asexual reproduction have been conducted since the selection was made in 2012.

Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'Fandango' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number 2018/2177, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office in Angers, France. The trials were conducted by the Spanish Office of Plant Varieties (OEVV) at the Andalusian Institute of Agricultural and Fisheries Research and Training (IFAPA) testing station in Huelva, Spain from 2018 to 2020.
