Variety Description
Varieties used for comparison: 'Evita', 'Floriante', 'Majestic', 'Murano' and 'SG 134'
Summary: The leaves of Hademar' have a dark green upper side while those of Evita' and SG 134' are medium green. The stipules of Hademar' have a horizontal attitude of hairs while those of Murano' have an upwards attitude. The fruits of Hademar' are firm while those of Majestic' have a medium degree of firmness. The width of the band without achenes of the fruit of Hademar' are very narrow to narrow while those of Floriante' are narrow to medium.
Description:
PLANT: semi-upright growth habit, medium to dense foliage, medium vigour, day neutral
STOLON: few to medium number, medium intensity of anthocyanin colouration, medium density of pubescence
LEAF: medium to large size, dark green upper side, strong rugosity, strong glossiness
TERMINAL LEAFLET: moderately longer than wide, obtuse base, serrate margin, concave in cross-section
STIPULE: very weak to weak intensity of anthocyanin colouration
PETIOLE: medium to long, horizontal attitude of hairs
FLOWERING: begins very early to early in season
INFLORESCENCE: positioned above foliage
FLOWER: few to medium number of flowers, medium to large diameter, petal arrangement is overlapping, calyx larger than corolla, stamen present
PETAL: length equal to width, white upper side
CALYX: inserted attachment, outwards attitude of sepals, diameter slightly larger than fruit
FRUIT: equal length in relation to width, large, conical shape, firm, begins ripening in early season
FRUIT SURFACE: medium red, slightly uneven colour, strong glossiness, very narrow to narrow band without achenes, achenes level with surface
FRUIT FLESH: medium red flesh and core
Origin & Breeding History: Hademar' originated from a cross pollination between 07-92-10' as the female parent and Brighton' as the male parent. The cross was conducted in Ens, Netherlands in April of 2010. The new variety Hademar' was selected in 2011 based on its continuous high production. Multiple generations of asexual reproduction have been conducted since the selection was made.
Tests & Trials: The detailed description of Hademar' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number 52178, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office, Angers, France. The trial was conducted by the Bundessortenamt in Hanover, Germany, in 2017-2018.
