Variety Description
Varieties used for comparison: Florence', Marsella', Sweet Eve', Donna' and Sabrina'
Summary: The terminal leaflet of Parlando' has an acute shaped base while that of Sweet Eve' and Donna' has an obtuse shaped base. The hairs on the pedicel of Parlando' have an upwards attitude while those of Marsella' have a horizontal attitude. The fruit of Parlando' begins ripening early in the season while the fruit of Florence' begins ripening mid to late season. The fruit of Parlando' is of medium firmness while that of Sabrina' is firm to very firm.
Description:
PLANT: semi-upright growth habit, medium density foliage, medium to strong vigour, medium to many stolons, day-neutral bearing type
STOLON: weak to medium intensity of anthocyanin colouration, medium density of pubescence
PETIOLE: medium to long, horizontal attitude of hairs
STIPULE: strong intensity of anthocyanin colouration
LEAF: medium to large, dark green upper side, medium degree of blistering, strong glossiness, no variegation
TERMINAL LEAFLET: moderately longer than wide, acute base, serrate margin, concave in cross-section
FLOWERING: begins early to mid-season
PEDICEL: upwards attitude of hairs
INFLORESCENCE: same level as foliage, few to medium number of flowers
FLOWER: large diameter, touching arrangement of petals, calyx same size as corolla, stamen present
PETAL: equal length and width, white upper side
CALYX: attachment level with fruit, outwards attitude of sepals, diameter slightly larger than fruit, medium strength adherence to fruit
FRUIT: moderately longer than wide, large, conical shape, very slight to slight difference in shape of terminal fruit and other fruit, medium firmness, medium sized cavity, begins ripening early in the season
FRUIT SURFACE: dark red, slightly uneven colour, strong glossiness, even or very slightly uneven, narrow band without achenes, achenes level with surface

Origin & Breeding History: Parlando' (experimental designation FE 2117) originated from a cross between two unnamed seedlings, E2010-117 as the female parent, and E2014-0047 as the male parent, conducted in Eck en Weil, the Netherlands in the spring of 2016. The new variety Parlando' was selected in 2018 based on fruit shape, fruit appearance, fruit adherence and yield.
Tests & Trials: The detailed description of Parlando' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number 20211291, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office in Angers, France. The trial was conducted by the Bundessortenamt in Hanover, Germany in 2022 and 2023.
