Variety Description

Varieties used for comparison: 'Stardom Goldstar' and 'Stardom Pink'

Summary: The flower of 'INJAMSADAW' is larger in diameter than that of 'Stardom Pink'. The corolla tube of the flower of 'INJAMSADAW' is longer than that of both reference varieties. The corolla lobe of 'INJAMSADAW' is larger than that of 'Stardom Pink'. When newly opened, the inner side of the corolla of 'INJAMSADAW' is medium purple with medium yellow towards the center while that of 'Stardom Goldstar' is dark yellow with medium yellow orange towards the center. When fully opened, the inner side of the corolla lobe of 'INJAMSADAW' is medium purple with white towards the center while that of 'Stardom Goldstar' is light yellow with dark yellow towards the center. When aged, the inner side of the corolla lobe of 'INJAMSADAW' is light violet with white towards the center while that of 'Stardom Goldstar' is white with dark yellow towards the center.

COROLLA TUBE: straight attitude, cylindric shape, inner side medium yellow orange (RHS 17A), sparse short pubescence on outer side
ANTHER: level with or below corolla tube opening

Origin & Breeding History: 'INJAMSADAW' originated from a cross pollination conducted by the breeder Silvia Hofmann in Heidesheim, Germany in August 2017. The cross was made between the female parent variety 'Shakira Yellow' and the male parent, a proprietary seedling designated 'Ja 16-15-6'. From the resulting progeny, a single plant was selected in July 2018 based on plant growth habit, branching density, flower size, flower colour and summer performance. 'INJAMSADAW' was first asexually propagated by vegetative cuttings in July 2018 in Gensingen, Germany.

Tests & Trials: The comparative trial for 'INJAMSADAW' was conducted in a polyhouse during the spring of 2022 at BioFlora, Inc. in St. Thomas, Ontario. The trial included a total of 20 plants each of the candidate and reference varieties. All plants were grown from rooted cuttings and transplanted into 15 cm pots on April 7, 2022. Observations and measurements were taken from 10 plants, or parts of plants, of each variety on June 1, 2022. All colour determinations were made using the 2015 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
