Description:

PLANT: medium to tall, indeterminate growth habit
STEM: very weak to weak intensity of anthocyanin colouration, medium length of internode

LEAF: semi-drooping attitude, medium to long, medium to broad, medium to dark green on upper side, medium degree of glossiness on upper side, weak blistering
LEAF BLADE: bipinnate type
LEAFLET: small to medium size, semi-erect to horizontal attitude of petiolule in relation to main axis

FLOWERING: begins early
INFLORESCENCE: mainly uniparous type
PEDUNCLE: abscission layer present, short to medium length
FLOWER: yellow, pubescence of style present

FRUIT (BEFORE MATURITY): medium to large extent of dark green shoulder, very light green colour (excluding shoulder), no green stripes
FRUIT: very small, large length to diameter ratio, obovate shape in longitudinal section, absent or very weak ribbing at peduncle end, absent or very weak depression at peduncle end, very small peduncle scar, very small blossom scar, flat at blossom end, very small to small diameter of core in relation to total diameter in cross-section, very thin pericarp, two and three locules, red flesh at maturity, firm to very firm, matures very early
FRUIT SKIN: red at maturity, strong degree of glossiness

Origin & Breeding History: 'Florantino' (breeder designation 72-163 RZ) originated from a controlled cross conducted in the autumn of 2009, in De Lier, Netherlands. From the resulting progeny, 'Florantino' was selected in 2010 for its uniform and stable fruit shape, taste, and plant growth habit.

Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'Florantino' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number TMT2690, purchased from Naktuinbouw, Roelofarendsveen, Netherlands. The trial was conducted by Naktuinbouw, Roelofarendsveen, Netherlands, from 2014 to 2015.
