Variety used for comparison: 'Haiku'

Summary: The plants of 'Hibachi' are tall whereas the plants of 'Haiku' are medium to tall. The attitude of the leaf of 'Hibachi' is horizontal to semi-drooping whereas the leaf of 'Haiku' is horizontal. The length to diameter ratio of the fruit of 'Hibachi' is small to medium, but smaller than the length to diameter ratio of the fruit of 'Haiku', which is small to medium.

PLANT: tall, indeterminate growth habit
STEM: very weak to weak intensity of anthocyanin colouration, medium to long internode

LEAF: horizontal to semi-drooping attitude, medium to long, medium width, medium green on upper side, weak degree of glossiness on upper side, weak blistering
LEAF BLADE: bipinnate type
LEAFLET: medium to large, erect to semi-erect attitude of petiolule in relation to main axis

FLOWERING: begins early to mid-season
INFLORESCENCE: mainly uniparous type
PEDUNCLE: abscission layer present, medium length
FLOWER: yellow, pubescence of style present

FRUIT (BEFORE MATURITY): no green shoulder, light to medium green colour, no green stripes
FRUIT: medium size, small to medium length to diameter ratio, oblate shape in longitudinal section, weak ribbing at peduncle end, weak to medium size depression at peduncle end, medium size peduncle scar, very small to small blossom scar, flat at blossom end, medium size diameter of core in relation to total diameter in cross-section, medium to thick pericarp, two and three locules, red flesh at maturity, medium firmness, matures mid-season to late

Origin & Breeding History: 'Hibachi' (breeder designation 72-241 RZ) originated from a controlled cross conducted in March 2012, in De Lier, Netherlands. From the resulting progeny, 'Hibachi' was selected in October 2012 for its uniform and stable fruit shape, fruit colour and taste, and plant growth habit.

Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'Hibachi' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number TMT2663, purchased from Naktuinbouw, Roelofarendsveen, Netherlands. The trial was conducted by Naktuinbouw, Roelofarendsveen, Netherlands, from 2014 to 2015.
