Origin & Breeding History: 'Adorion' (breeder designation NUN 09231 TOF) originated from a controlled cross conducted in 2015 in the Netherlands. The parents were developed via pedigree selection from 2012 to 2014 with 2 selection cycles per year in the Netherlands. The female line was selected for its high brix (sugar) content and cluster shape. The male parent was selected for its non-ripening (NOR) gene and cluster shape. In the parent, the NOR gene gives non-ripening fruits a green-yellow color, whereas in the hybrid the balance between sugars and acids result in the fruit color remaining red-orange. From the resulting progeny, 'Adorion' was selected for its yield, high brix and acidity level.
Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'Adorion' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number TMT3321, purchased from Naktuinbouw in Roelofarendsveen, Netherlands. The trials were conducted by Naktuinbouw in Roelofarendsveen, Netherlands from 2018 to 2019.
