Variety used for comparison: 'Foronti'
Summary: The leaf of 'Kivu' has a semi-drooping attitude, but less drooping than that of 'Foronti', which is also semi-drooping. The leaflet of 'Kivu' is medium to large, but smaller than the leaflet of 'Foronti', which is also medium to large. The upper side of the leaf blade of 'Kivu' is medium green, but lighter green than the leaf blade of 'Foronti', which is also medium green.

Origin & Breeding History: 'Kivu' originated from a cross conducted in De Lier, Netherlands in July 2013. From the resulting progeny, a hybrid was selected in the Netherlands in August 2014 based on its plant growth habit, uniform and stable fruit shape, uniformly large fruit size over the season and low sensitivity to fruit drop. This new variety was named 'Kivu'.
Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'Kivu' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number TMT3097, purchased from Naktuinbouw, Roelofarendsveen, Netherlands. The trial was conducted by Naktuinbouw, Roelofarendsveen, Netherlands, from 2017.
