Summary: The internode of the stem of 'Equifort' is of medium length while that of 'Optifort' is medium to long. The fruit of 'Equifort' is very small to small while the fruit of 'Optifort' is small.

Description:

SEEDLING: anthocyanin colouration of hypocotyl present

PLANT: medium to tall, flowers mid to late season, no autonecrosis of older leaves

STEM: very weak to weak intensity of anthocyanin colouration of upper third, medium length internode

LEAF: long, broad
LEAF BLADE (UPPER SIDE): medium to dark green, medium glossiness, medium blistering
LEAFLET: medium to large

PEDICEL: medium length

IMMATURE FRUIT: medium to large extent of dark green shoulder, strong conspicuousness of meridian stripes
MATURE FRUIT: very small to small, circular in longitudinal section, only two locules, yellowish skin

DISEASE REACTIONS: highly resistant to Meloidogyne incognita; resistant to Verticillium sp. (Va and Vd) race 0, Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. lycopersici race 0 (ex1) and race 1 (ex 2), Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. radicis lycopersici, Fulvia fulva (ex Cladosporium fulvum) group A, B, C, D and E, Tomato Mosaic Virus strains 0, 1, 2 and Pyrenochaeta lycopersici; no resistance to Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. lycopersici race 2 (ex3)

Origin & Breeding History: 'Equifort' (breeder's reference DRTX0018) originated from a hand pollinated cross made between two proprietary Seminis breeding lines, 'TRS-XI15-0287GMS' and 'FIR-180-SCHAT', in 2013 at a Seminis breeding station located in Bergschenhoek, Netherlands. The resulting hybrid tomato rootstock variety 'Equifort' was selected in 2015 for its plant vigour and balance, fruit weight and stable yield over the whole growing season.

Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'Equifort' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, for National Listing application number TMR62, purchased from the Naktuinbouw in Roelofarendsveen, Netherlands. The trials were conducted by the Naktuinbouw in Roelofarendsveen, Netherlands in 2019 and 2020. The National Listing report for 'Equifort' was used to support the PBR application number 2018/2517 in the Community Plant Variety Office.
