Summary: The fruit of 'Grandice' is larger than that of 'Marinice'. The peduncle end of the fruit of 'Grandice' has a medium to strong depression while that of 'Marinice' has a medium depression. The fruit skin of 'Grandice' has strong glossiness while that of 'Marinice' has a medium degree of glossiness.

SEEDLING: anthocyanin colouration of hypocotyl present

PLANT: indeterminate growth type, medium to tall, flowers mid season, very late fruit maturity

STEM: weak intensity of anthocyanin colouration, long internode

LEAF: semi-drooping attitude, long, broad, bipinnate blade type
LEAF BLADE (UPPER SIDE): medium green, weak glossiness, weak blistering
LEAFLET: medium to large, semi-erect attitude of petiole in relation to main axis of leaf

INFLORESCENCE: mainly uniparous type
PEDUNCLE: no abscission layer
FLOWER: yellow, pubescence of style present

IMMATURE FRUIT: no green shoulder, light green skin, no green stripes
MATURE FRUIT: large, small length to diameter ratio, oblate shape in longitudinal section, weak to medium ribbing at peduncle end, medium to strong depression at peduncle end, medium sized peduncle scar, small blossom scar, flat at blossom end, medium diameter of core (in cross-section) in relation to total diameter when viewed from above, thick pericarp, three and four locules, red skin, strong glossiness of skin, red flesh, firm to very firm

Origin & Breeding History: 'Grandice' (breeder's reference DRTH1027) originated from a hand-pollinated cross conducted between two proprietary Seminis lines, 'FIR-XM17-4463' and 'FIR-XM15-4367', at the Seminis breeding station located in Bergschenhoek, Netherlands in 2018. The resulting hybrid, 'Grandice', was selected in 2019 for its yield, quality, uniformity, colour and flavour.

Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'Grandice' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number TMT3824, purchased from the Naktuinbouw in Roelofarendsveen, Netherlands. The trial was conducted by the Naktuinbouw in Roelofarendsveen, Netherlands in 2022.
