Variety used for comparison: Shetland

Summary: The upper side of the leaf blade of 'Martinique' is lighter medium green than that of ‘Shetland'. The length to diameter ratio of the fruit of ‘Martinique' is small to medium whereas that of ‘Shetland' is small. The ribbing at the peduncle end of the fruit of ‘Martinique' is weaker than that of ‘Shetland'. The number of locules of the fruit of ‘Martinique' is two and three but occasionally four, whereas that of ‘Shetland' is three and four. At maturity, the fruit skin of ‘Martinique' is darker red than that of ‘Shetland'.

Origin & Breeding History: 'Martinique' (breeder's reference E15M.42963) originated from a controlled cross made between two proprietary breeding lines, 'E15M.42963-F' and 'E15M.42963-M', in June 2019 at an Enza Zaden Beheer B.V. breeding station located in Enkhuizen, Netherlands. The resulting hybrid variety 'Martinique' was selected in October of 2021 for its resistance to ToBRFV HR, its yield potential (number of trusses and average fruit weight), plant balance and regularity of setting.

Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'Martinique' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination application number TMT4042 purchased from the Naktuinbouw in Roelofarendsveen, Netherlands. The trial was conducted by the Naktuinbouw in Roelofarendsveen, Netherlands from 2023 to 2024.
