Summary: The plants of ‘Hateno' are tall to very tall while those of ‘Genery' are tall. The fruit of ‘Hateno' are very small while those of ‘Genery' are very small to small.

Description:

SEEDLING: anthocyanin colouration of hypocotyl present

PLANT: indeterminate growth type, tall to very tall, flowers early to mid-season, early to mid-season fruit maturity
STEM: medium intensity of anthocyanin colouration, medium length internode

LEAF: horizontal to semi-drooping attitude, medium to long, medium to broad, bipinnate blade type
LEAF BLADE (UPPER SIDE): medium green, weak glossiness, weak to medium degree of blistering
LEAFLET: medium sized, horizontal attitude of petiole in relation to main axis of leaf

INFLORESCENCE: mainly uniparous type
PEDUNCLE: abscission layer present, short
FLOWER: yellow, pubescence of style present

IMMATURE FRUIT: medium to large extent of dark green shoulder, very light to light green skin (excluding shoulder), no green stripes
MATURE FRUIT: very small, medium length to diameter ratio, circular shape in longitudinal section, absent or very weak ribbing at peduncle end, absent to very weak depression at peduncle end, very small to small peduncle scar, very small blossom scar, flat at blossom end, small diameter of core (in cross-section) in relation to total diameter when viewed from above, very thin to thin pericarp, only two locules, red skin, medium glossiness of skin, red flesh, firm to very firm

Origin & Breeding History: 'Hateno' (breeder's reference 72-CH0364 RZ) originated from a controlled cross conducted between two proprietary lines in the autumn of 2020 in De Lier, Netherlands. ‘Hateno' was selected in De Lier, Netherlands in 2021 for its fruit cluster length, fruit weight, shelf life, disease resistance and being suitable for truss harvest.

Tests & Trials: The detailed description of ‘Hateno' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number TMT4284, purchased from the Naktuinbouw in Roelofarendsveen, Netherlands. The trial was conducted by the Naktuinbouw in Roelofarendsveen, Netherlands in 2024 and 2025.
