Variety Description

Variety used for comparison: 'Parisetto'

Summary: Before maturity, the shoulder of the fruit of ‘Balthasetto' is dark to very dark green while that of ‘Parisetto' is medium to dark green. The fruit of ‘Balthasetto' is very small to small while that of ‘Parisetto' is very small. At maturity, the fruit skin of ‘Balthasetto' is lighter red than that of ‘Parisetto'.

Origin & Breeding History: 'Balthasetto' (breeder's reference 72-MP0034 RZ) originated from a controlled cross conducted between two proprietary lines in the spring of 2021 in De Lier, Netherlands. ‘Balthasetto' was selected in De Lier, Netherlands in the autumn of 2021 for its fruit shape, length, colour, and yield; disease resistance and suitability for single harvest in heated greenhouse production.

Tests & Trials: The detailed description of ‘Balthasetto' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number TMT4122, purchased from the Naktuinbouw in Roelofarendsveen, Netherlands. The trial was conducted by the Naktuinbouw in Roelofarendsveen, Netherlands in 2023 and 2024.
