Summary: The fruit of Tulemalu' is small to medium sized with a large to very large length to diameter ratio while the fruit of Vivolia' is medium sized with a large length to diameter ratio. The peduncle scar of the fruit of Tulemalu' is very small to small whereas that of Vivolia' is small to medium sized.

SEEDLING: anthocyanin colouration of hypocotyl present
PLANT: indeterminate growth type, tall to very tall, flowers early to mid-season, mid-season fruit maturity
STEM: very weak to weak intensity of anthocyanin colouration, long internode
LEAF: horizontal to semi-drooping attitude, long, broad, bipinnate blade type
LEAF BLADE (UPPER SIDE): medium green, weak to medium degree of glossiness, medium degree of blistering
LEAFLET: large, semi-erect attitude of petiole in relation to main axis of leaf
INFLORESCENCE: mainly uniparous type
PEDUNCLE: abscission layer present, medium to long
FLOWER: yellow, pubescence of style present
IMMATURE FRUIT: no green shoulder, light to medium green skin (excluding shoulder), no green stripes

Origin & Breeding History: 'Tulemalu' (breeder's reference 72-PL0501 RZ) originated from a controlled cross conducted between two proprietary lines in the spring of 2021 in De Lier, Netherlands. Tulemalu' was selected in De Lier, Netherlands in the autumn of 2022 for its fruit colour, glossiness, shape, firmness, size, shelf life; and disease resistance.
Tests & Trials: The detailed description of Tulemalu' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number TMT4314, purchased from the Naktuinbouw in Roelofarendsveen, Netherlands. The trial was conducted by the Naktuinbouw in Roelofarendsveen, Netherlands in 2024.
