Rehder. It was initially selected in 2000 for its large, dark red flowers, extended flowering time, small leaves with short internodes, and compact, restrained growth habit. Since 2000, asexual propagation of 'Takarazuka Fresa' has been by vegetative cuttings.
Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'Takarazuka Fresa' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number 2014/2127, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office, in Angers, France. The trial was conducted by the Naktuinbouw - Variety Centre, in Roelofarendsveen, Netherlands, in 2016. The colour determinations were made using the 2015 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
