Summary: The upper side of the leaf of 'KLEVP12431' is dark green while that of 'Empress Flair Blue Charme' is medium green. The inner side of the corolla lobe of 'KLEVP12431' is blue violet while that of 'Empress Flair Blue Charme' is darker blue violet.

Description:

PLANT: upright to semi-upright growth habit, medium width just after the start of flowering
STEM: no anthocyanin colouration on middle third

LEAF: short to medium length, narrow width, ovate shape, no divisions present, dentate margin incisions, upper side dark green with a weak intensity of anthocyanin colouration
PETIOLE: very short to short

INFLORESCENCE: medium to large diameter, broad ovate in profile
CAYLX: anthocyanin colouration at teeth only
FLOWER BUD: blue violet (RHS 86D) just before opening
FLOWER: single type, medium to large in diameter
COROLLA LOBES: touching, longitudinal axis recurved, weak to medium undulation of margin, one colour on upper side, shaded colour pattern, lighter towards apex, inner side blue violet (RHS 86D), weakly fading with age
COROLLA EYE: very large, whitish green
COROLLA TUBE: medium to long, hairs light grey at tip

Origin & Breeding History: The variety 'KLEVP12431' originated from a controlled cross conducted by the breeder Ruijun Li, an employee of NuFlora International Pty. Ltd., in Cobbity, Australia. The cross was conducted in April 2009 between the proprietary seedlings designated 'V 985', as the female parent, and an unnamed male parent derived from V641 x V 740. From the resulting progeny, seedlings were selected for their flower type in September 2010. From February to May 2011, these seedlings were evaluated in greenhouse trials in Stuttgart, Germany before 'KLEVP12431' was selected for commercialization in August 2012.

Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'KLEVP12431' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number 2013/1833 purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office in Angers, France. The trials were conducted by the Naktuinbouw Variety Center in Roelofarendsveen, the Netherlands in 2015. All colour determinations were made using the 2007 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
