Origin & Breeding History: The variety 'INVEBPUTOW' originated from a controlled cross conducted by the breeder, Mrs. Birgit Hofmann, an employee of InnovaPlant GmbH. & Co. KG., in Gensingen, Germany. The cross was conducted in August 2011 using an unnamed proprietary seedling of Verbena bonariensis, as the female parent, and a proprietary seedling designated 'Vb10-1000-9', as the male parent. From the resulting progeny, a single seedling designated 'INVEBPUTOW', was selected based on its plant growth habit, flower size and production characteristics. Asexual reproduction of 'INVEBPUTOW' was first conducted by vegetative cuttings in September 2012 in Gensingen, Germany.

Tests & Trials: The comparative trial for 'INVEBPUTOW' was conducted in a polyhouse during the spring of 2016, at BioFlora Inc. in St. Thomas, Ontario. The trial included a total of 20 plants each of the candidate and reference variety. All plants were grown from rooted cuttings and transplanted into 11 cm pots on April 19, 2016. Observations and measurements were taken from 10 plants, or parts of plants, of each variety on June 14, 2016. All colour determinations were made using the 2007 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
