Variety used for comparison: 'Duemprialbu'

Summary: The plants of 'KLEVP15618' are medium to broad while the plants of 'Duemprialbu' are of medium width. The corolla of 'KLEVP15618' is darker violet than the corolla of 'Duemprialbu'. Along the longitudinal axis, the corolla lobe of 'KLEVP15618' is incurved whereas the corolla lobe of 'Duemprialbu' is straight.

Description:

PLANT: semi-upright growth habit, medium to broad just after beginning of flowering
STEM: anthocyanin colouration present

LEAF BLADE: short, narrow, ovate shape, no divisions, dentate margin, dark green on upper side, weak intensity of anthocyanin colouration on upper side

PETIOLE: very short to short
INFLORESCENCE: medium to large diameter, broad cylindrical in profile
FLOWER BUD: violet blue (RHS N92C) just before opening
FLOWER: single type
CALYX: anthocyanin colouration present along teeth only
COROLLA: arrangement of lobes is non-touching, medium to large diameter, no change in colour with age
COROLLA LOBE: incurved along the longitudinal axis, medium undulation of margin, one colour, shaded colour pattern, mainly dark violet (RHS 83A) lighter towards apex
COROLLA EYE: absent
COROLLA TUBE: long, tips of protruding hairs are purple

Origin & Breeding History: 'KLEVP15618' originated from a controlled cross conducted by the breeder, Ruijun Li, in Cobbitty, New South Wales, Australia. The cross was made between the female parent variety, 'VC1293', and the male parent variety, 'VC1215', in February 2011. The resultant seedlings were selected in August 2011, in Cobbitty, Australia based on their plant growth habit, flower colour and resistance to powdery mildew. A single seedling was selected for commercialization and named 'KLEVP15618' in December 2014.

Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'KLEVP15618' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number 2016/1695, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office, in Angers, France. The trial was conducted in 2017 by the Naktuinbouw, in Roelofarendsveen, Netherlands. The colour determinations were made using the 2015 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
