Variety used for comparison: 'AU0532-3V'
Summary: Just after the start of flowering, the plants of 'VEAZ0067' are broad to very broad while those of 'AU0532-3V' are broad. The upper side of the leaf blade of 'VEAZ0067' is medium to dark green while that of 'AU0532-3V' is medium green. The inflorescence of 'VEAZ0067' has a medium to large diameter while that of 'AU0532-3V' has a medium sized diameter.
Description:
PLANT: semi-upright growth habit, broad to very broad just after the start of flowering
STEM: no anthocyanin colouration on middle third of actively growing stem
LEAF BLADE: short, very narrow, lanceolate shape, no divisions, dentate incisions of margin, medium to dark green upper side, no anthocyanin colouration on upper side
PETIOLE: very short
INFLORESCENCE: medium to large diameter, broad obovate in profile
FLOWER: single type, free arrangement of corolla lobes
CALYX: anthocyanin colouration distributed at teeth only
COROLLA: medium diameter, more than two colours present, shaded colour pattern with distribution lighter towards base, red purple colour group, inner side of upper two lobes red pink (RHS 53C), inner side of lower three lobes medium purple red (RHS 58C), secondary colour white (RHS NN155D), weakly fading colour with age
COROLLA LOBE: incurved along longitudinal axis, weak to medium undulation of margin
COROLLA EYE: absent
COROLLA TUBE: medium length, tip of protruding hairs is light green yellow
Origin & Breeding History: 'VEAZ0067' originated from a cross conducted between the female parent variety 'KLEVP15474' and a male proprietary breeding line designated 'T0984-4V' in Enkhuizen, Netherlands in September 2017. The resulting seed was sown in February 2018. In May 2018, 'VEAZ0067' was selected as a single unique seedling based on its plant growth habit and flower colour.
Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'VEAZ0067' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number 2021/1704, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office in Angers, France. The trial was conducted by the Naktuinbouw in Roelofarendsveen, Netherlands in 2022. All colour determinations were made using the 2015 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
