Origin & Breeding History: 'Florverblue' originated from the self-pollination of the Veronica austriaca variety 'Knallblau' in Quedlinburg, Germany, during the summer of 2007. This new variety was initially selected in May 2008 based on its vigourous and upright growth habit, medium green foliage, flowering time and medium blue flower colour. Asexual reproduction of 'Florverblue' has since been conducted by vegetative cuttings.

Tests & Trials: The comparative trial of 'Florverblue' was conducted in a polyhouse during the spring of 2015 at Bioflora Inc. in St. Thomas, Ontario. The trial included a total of 15 plants each of the candidate and reference variety. All plants were grown from rooted cuttings and transplanted into 3.8 litre pots on May 20, 2014. Observations and measurements were taken from 10 plants, or parts of plants, of each variety on May 15, 2015. All colour determinations were made using the 2007 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
