Origin & Breeding History: 'Recoil' (experimental designations LAR17-7773) is a double haploid genotype which originated from the cross between 'BIO-112142' and 'Bolles' conducted in 2016 at Fort Collins, Colorado, USA. From 2016 to 2017, double haploids were produced in Chappes, France. DH1 lines were screened in the group Limagrain North American breeding network from 2018 to 2024 based on yield, maturity, lodging resistance, height, disease resistance as well as end use traits such as milling and baking performance. LAR17-7773 was identified in 2017. Breeder seed was established in 2022.
Tests & Trials: The comparative trials for 'Recoil' were conducted at Limagrain Cereals Research Canada in Osler, Saskatchewan during the 2022 and 2024 growing seasons. Plots consisted of three replications arranged in a RCB design. Each plot consisting of six rows with a row length of 3 metres and row spacing of 22 cm. The planting density was 250 seeds per square metre, resulting in approximately 3375 plants per variety, per year. Measured characteristics were based on 20 measurements per variety for each year of trials. Mean differences were significant at the 5% confidence probability level based on a paired Student's t-test.
