Variety used for comparison: 'Zahara Sunburst'

Summary: The plants of ‘SAKZIN020' are short whereas the plants of ‘Zahara Sunburst' are a short to medium height. The main colour on the inner side of the ray florets of ‘SAKZIN020' is a slightly different medium yellow orange than that of ‘Zahara Sunburst'. The secondary colour on the inner side of the ray florets of ‘SAKZIN020' is dark red whereas that of ‘Zahara Sunburst' is medium red.

Description:

PLANT: semi-erect growth habit, sparse to medium density of branches, short, medium width
STEM: green tinged with red or purple

LEAF BLADE: medium length, medium width, medium length to width ratio, widest point positioned at middle, medium green to dark green on upper side

PEDUNCLE: short to medium length
FLOWER HEAD: positioned moderately above foliage, semi-double type, small to medium diameter, very few to few ray florets
RAY FLORET: short to medium length, narrow, small to medium length to width ratio, moderately ascending basal part, moderately concave in cross section at middle, reflexing longitudinal axis, distal quarter not straight, weak curvature, absent or very weak twisting, emarginate to rounded apex, colour of outer side markedly different from inner side
RAY FLORET (INNER SIDE): mainly medium yellow orange (RHS 17C) with solid or nearly solid dark red (RHS N45B) on basal half
DISC: small to medium diameter relative to flower head, brown before anther dehiscence, yellow orange at anther dehiscence

Origin & Breeding History: ‘SAKZIN020' originated from a hybridization conducted in August 2012 in Misato, Japan between the female parent variety ‘SAKZIN014' and the male parent, an unnamed proprietary breeding line. A single unique plant was selected in 2013 based on growth habit and flower colour.

Tests & Trials: The detailed description of ‘SAKZIN020' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number 2020/0413, purchased from Community Plant Variety Office in Angers, France. The trial was conducted by Naktuinbouw in Roelofarendsveen, Netherlands in 2021. Colour determinations were made using the 2015 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
