Summary: The plants of 'Dowon' are taller than those of 'Heemsprix'. The scale leaf of 'Dowon' is brown purple and longer than that of 'Heemsprix', which is dark green. The leaf of 'Dowon' has approximately sixteen leaflets while the leaf of 'Heemsprix' has approximately ten leaflets.

Origin & Breeding History: 'Dowon' was discovered and developed by the breeder, Hyuk Jin Lee, in South Korea. The variety was discovered in 2006 as a naturally occurring branch mutation from an unnamed Zamioculcas zamiifolia parent plant located at the breeder's nursery in Segok-dong, Seoul, South Korea. 'Dowon' was selected in 2006 for its very dark green young leaflet colour and its nearly black coloured fully expanded leaflet, rachis and petiole. Asexual reproduction of 'Dowon' was initially conducted by leaf cuttings in 2006 in Segok-dong, Seoul, South Korea.
Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'Dowon' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number 2015/0379, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office in Angers, France. The trial was conducted by the Naktuinbouw in Roelofarendsveen, Netherlands in 2016.
