Variety Description

Variety used for comparison: 'USCALI11' (Superbells Pink)

Summary: The plants of 'INTA 06575' are shorter, with a spreading growth habit, than those of 'USCALI11', which have a semi-upright growth habit. The leaf blade of 'INTA 06575' is larger than that of 'USCALI11'. The pedicel of 'INTA 06575' is longer than that of 'USCALI11'. The degree of lobing of the flower of 'INTA 06575' is weak while the degree of lobing of the flower is medium to strong for 'USCALI11'. The veins on the flower of 'INTA 06575' have weak to medium conspicuousness while the veins have very weak conspicuousness for 'USCALI11'. The inner side of the corolla of 'INTA 06575' is blue pink with purple veins and tones while that of 'USCALI11' is purple red to blue pink with purple tones. The veins on the inner side of the corolla tube of 'INTA 06575' have medium to strong conspicuousness while the veins have absent to very weak conspicuousness for 'USCALI11'.

COROLLA LOBE: inner side is purple (RHS N74A) with violet (RHS N78A) veins and tones when newly opened, blue pink (RHS 72C) with purple (RHS 72A-B) veins and tones when fully opened and blue pink (RHS 72D) with purple to blue pink (RHS 72B-C) veins and tones when aged; colour fades weakly due to environment, rounded and truncate apex
COROLLA TUBE (INNER SIDE): yellow (RHS 6C) with brown purple (RHS N77A) veins, no markings or colour differences at transition to lobes, medium to strong conspicuousness of veins

Origin & Breeding History: 'INTA 06575' originated from a controlled cross conducted by the breeders, Juan Carlos Hagiwara, Maria Julia Pannunzio and Facciuto Gabriela Rosa employees of the Instituto Nacional de Tecnologia Agropecuaria, Argentina. The cross was made between the female parent Calibrachoa caesia designated '20030925I2' and the male parent Calibrachoa hybrida designated 'Dark Blue', in September 2005 in Hurlingham, Beunos Aires, Argentina. From the resulting progeny, 'INTA 06575' was selected as a single plant in October 2006 based on its growth habit, freely branching nature, free flowering, flower colour and good summer and garden performance. Asexual reproduction of 'INTA 06575' was first conducted by vegetative cuttings in October 2016 in Hurlingham, Beunos Aires, Argentina.

Tests & Trials: The comparative trial for 'INTA 06575' was conducted in a polyhouse during the spring of 2016 at BioFlora Inc. in St. Thomas, Ontario. The trial included a total of 20 plants each of the candidate and reference variety. All plants were grown from rooted cuttings and transplanted into 30 cm hanging baskets on April 20, 2016. Each basket contained 4 cuttings with a total of 5 baskets per variety. Observations and measurements were taken from 10 plants, or parts of plants, of each variety on June 13, 2016. All colour determinations were made using the 2007 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
