Summary: 'KLECA16316' has a short to medium length shoot whereas 'KLECA08178' has a medium to long shoot. The apex of the leaf blade is obtuse for 'KLECA16316' whereas it is narrow acute for 'KLECA08178'. 'KLECA16316' has a long calyx lobe whereas 'KLECA08178' has a medium length calyx lobe. Lobing of the corolla is strong for 'KLECA16316' and weak for 'KLECA08178'. When newly and fully opened, the inner side of the corolla lobe is dark violet for 'KLECA16316' whereas the inner side of the corolla lobe is blue violet to dark violet for 'KLECA08178'. When aged, the inner side of the corolla lobe is dark violet to blue violet for 'KLECA16316' whereas the inner side of the corolla lobe is blue violet to violet for 'KLECA08178'. 'KLECA16316' has a corolla lobe with an emarginate apex whereas 'KLECA08178' has a corolla lobe with a rounded apex. The conspicuousness of veins on the inner side of the corolla tube is weak for 'KLECA16316' and of medium strength for 'KLECA08178'.

COROLLA TUBE (INNER SIDE): mainly dark yellow orange to medium yellow orange (RHS 22A-20A), small to medium sized star-shaped area of black (RHS N186B) at transition to corolla tube, absent or very small marking at transition, weak conspicuousness of veins
Origin & Breeding History: 'KLECA16316' was developed in Stuttgart, Germany. The new variety originated from a controlled cross made in 2012 between the variety 'CCA-2011-0593' as the female parent and 'CA-2011-0572' as the male parent. From this cross, seedlings were selected based on flower colour. Selected seedlings were evaluated in greenhouse trials from March to May in 2014 and 2015 and were further selected based on time of flowering and overall performance. A single seedling was selected for commercialization and named 'KLECA16316' in January 2015.
Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'KLECA16316' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number 2017/1692, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office in Angers, France. The trials were conducted by the Bundessortenamt in Hannover, Germany in 2018. The colour determinations were made using the 2015 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
