Description:

PLANT: spreading growth habit, medium height
SHOOT: medium length

LEAF BLADE: short to medium length, narrow to medium width, obtuse apex, no variegation, upper side medium green

PEDICEL: medium length
CALYX LOBE: short, narrow
FLOWER: single type, broad
COROLLA: medium degree of lobing, weak conspicuousness of veins
COROLLA LOBE (INNER SIDE): medium violet (RHS N82A-N81B) when newly opened, medium blue violet (RHS N82B-N82C) with narrow white area along fused parts of lobes when fully opened, medium blue violet (lighter than RHS N87D) when aged, emarginate apex, absent or very weak colour change during growing season
COROLLA TUBE (INNER SIDE): mainly yellow orange (RHS 11A), small rounded area of dark blue violet (RHS 86B) extending onto corolla lobes, very large yellow marking at transition, weak conspicuousness of veins

Origin & Breeding History: 'KLECA16371' was developed in Stuttgart, Germany. The new variety originated from a controlled cross made in 2013 between the variety 'CA-2013-0494' as the female parent and 'CA-2013-0187 as the male parent. From this cross, seedlings were selected based on flower size, stability of flower colour, and stability of the star pattern. Selected seedlings were evaluated in greenhouse trials from March to May in 2015 and 2016 and were further selected based on growth habit and branching. A single seedling was selected for commercialization and named 'KLECA16371' in January 2016.

Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'KLECA16371' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number 2017/1694, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office in Angers, France. The trials were conducted by the Bundessortenamt in Hannover, Germany in 2018. The colour determinations were made using the 2015 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
